A dockworker shortage at the Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach ended on Friday, April 14, as a contract agreement was reached with the labor union for West Coast dockworkers. The labor negotiations were triggered by questions of wages and the role of automation in ongoing operations of the two primary ports for Asian imports; due to this the Port of Los Angeles is the largest port in the western hemisphere and the Inland Empire plays the primary role in logistics for these imports once offloaded from the port.
