More Than 1,100 High School Students Attended Inland Empire Apprenticeship Expo

Largest Expo of its Kind in the State of California, Held to Coincide with National Apprenticeship Week.

Moreno Valley, CA – November 19, 2024: Over 1,100 high school students and 300 community members attended the 4th Annual Inland Empire Apprenticeship Expo at the Moreno Valley Conference & Recreation Center. The Expo, organized by Moreno Valley College for the US Department of Labor’s National Apprenticeship Week, was the largest of its kind in the State of California. There were 41 different employers, trade organizations, and vendors exhibiting and a total of 270 jobs promoted within the region. 

“Together, we showcased the transformative power of registered apprenticeships, emphasizing their critical role in building thriving careers in construction trades, advanced manufacturing, supply chain, IT Cybersecurity, automotives, nursing, maintenance technicians and many other high-demand, well paid industries,” said Rosalinda Rivas, Apprenticeship Director of Moreno Valley College. Said Rivas, “Apprenticeships are the key to quiet, impactful change, equipping individuals with the skills and support they need to secure well-paid, stable jobs while addressing workforce gaps in our communities.” 

Planning Partners of the Expo were the City of Moreno Valley Business & Employment Research Center, Moreno Valley College, Riverside Community College Foundation, San Bernardino Community College Foundation, San Bernardino County Superintendent of Schools, Riverside County Office of Education, Norco College, and Riverside City College.  

Sponsors of the Expo included: Niagara Water, Inland Empire/Desert Regional Consortium, Manufacturers’ Council of the Inland Empire, the Empowerment Center, Chick-fil-A, LAUNCH Apprenticeship Network, Sorenson Engineering, Tomorrow’s Talent, and Masonry Industry Training Association. 

The Manufacturers’ Council (MCIE) represents manufacturers in Riverside and San Bernardino counties. Their efforts include reaching out to students, their parents, and the public at large with the message that skilled trade opportunities are available that offer rewarding high-wage careers.  

The Manufacturers’ Council of the Inland Empire’s membership is comprised of professionals, students, community members, and corporate leadership with interests in manufacturing in Inland Southern California.
